Chapter 1451 - Serving Oregon and SW Washington

Hearing Aid Purchase Program...

There is very little support in the way of helping retiree's get hearing aids and we have not found anything in the local vicinity, but assistance is not completely nonexistent.

Retiree At Cost Hearing Aid Program / Retiree Hearing Aid Purchase Program (RACHAP/RHAPP) may provide hearing aids at government cost to US military Retirees. In many cases, retirees can get two hearing aids for less than $2,000. You will definitely want to contact the facility first before spending the money to travel to the location.

Links to the right will provide additional information on the program and participating locations. Currently Fort Lewis is listed as participating in the program, but after calls to their center Ft Lewis indicates they have not participated for several years.

As of March 2008, Navy base Bremerton near Seattle is the only facility participating in our area. They can be reached at 1-360-475-4214.

They said that two or more visits will be required for the program and that travel or overnight expenses are not covered.

On a bright note, those looking for an excuse to hit Las Vegas may find that Nellis AFB is participating in the program. At least to the best of our knowledge :-)
